Gobierno inauguró el primer parque eólico

El presidente Iván Duque  inauguró el parque eólico más grande del país, Guajira 1, el cual espera tener una generación equivalente a 20 MW (megavatios), lo que es igual al consumo de 33.295 familias.

El complejo tuvo una inversión total de $75.000 millones, es el primero de 16 parques eólicos que estarán ubicados en La Guajira y se tiene previsto el inicio de su fase comercial durante el primer trimestre de este año, más específicamente en mayo.

La extensión de Guajira 1 es de 5,5 hectáreas; posee el registro del proyecto como Mecanismo de Desarrollo Limpio (MDL) y puede emitir Certificados de Reducción de Emisiones (CER). Además, permitirá reducir 136 toneladas de CO2 que se emiten a la atmósfera en su etapa de funcionamiento.

El proyecto fue desarrollado por Isagen, empresa del sector privado de generación y comercialización de energía, y que invirtió en 2021, aproximadamente $3 billones en 14 proyectos de energías renovables en todo el país. La construcción de la obra estuvo a cargo del Grupo Elecnor.
